Our group has plans for March 2015. My son arrives a few days later and we want him linked with us on tickets & dining. When reservations were made I was told I have to include him for the total days, so I will pay for days he is not with us. True?

    Hi Stacy,

You have a great question about Walt Disney World reservations and vacation packages.  There are different ways to make reservations for a vacation at Walt Disney World.  If you reserved a Magic Your Way Vacation Package Plus Dining, each member on the reservation must have the same ticket and dining options.  Therefore if your son wants to be included on the same reservation, he will indeed have the same ticket and dining options as the rest of the party.  Magic Your Way Vacation Packages are very popular since you can only add the Disney Dining Plan with a vacation package.

However you have a different option of making a Disney Resort hotel room only reservation and not purchasing a vacation package with the Disney Dining Plan.  If you choose the room only reservation option, you can purchase theme park tickets for each member of your party separately and of different lengths depending upon your needs.  Although you cannot add the Disney Dining Plan without a vacation package, you can purchase your food as you go and even use your MagicBands to charge your food if you desire.

I recommend doing an estimated cost comparison to see if there is a cost savings by purchasing your vacation components individually verses adding your son to your existing vacation package.  If you choose to add your son to your vacation package, he might not be able to use all of the theme park ticket days but he can use his meal and snack credits in any order he wishes.

I hope this information is useful in helping you plan your upcoming vacation.  Please let us know if you have any further questions!

    Blessings,
