We're a group of 4 adults, 3 year old, and 1 year old. I just want to confirm that when combining FastPass+ and rider swap, only "group 1" has to have a fastpass. I've seen conflicting info and want to confirm this is current.

    Hi Nicole,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is a magical experience! It sounds like you’re getting ready to have the most fun-filled trip with your family!

Disney’s Rider Switch Service has saved my family a lot of time. Thanks to the service, we wait less in lines and spend more time having fun all together!

First, you will have to make sure the Rider Switch Service is being offered at the attraction you are wanting to ride. You can find that information here. Make your way to the greeting Cast Member at the queue of the attraction with your entire party and let them know you would like to use the Rider Switch Service. The Cast Member will then scan the MagicBands or Theme Park tickets of the Guests riding in Group 2 so it shows in the system that they have the Rider Switch Entitlement.

According to the Rider Switch Service guidelines, “At least one adult member of your party and the Guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch entitlement by the Cast Member and asked to wait in a designated area.” This is Group 2. Once the party members initially finish riding the attraction, they can take over supervision of the child/children not riding. “Party 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue for a second time. The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a Cast Member at this time.” It also states, “If the person in Party 2 waited alone with the child, he or she may bring up to 2 other Guests back to ride the attraction with him or her. Please note that only 3 Guests are allowed per Rider Switch Pass.”

If the members of the first group to ride have a FastPass+ for the attraction, they may enter the FastPass+ queue. The adult waiting with the non-rider will be issued a Rider Switch entitlement on their MagicBand permitting them to enter the FastPass+ queue with up to two Guests. Hence, the members of the second group will not need a FastPass+ to bypass the Standby line; the Rider Switch entitlement will gain them entrance to the FastPass+ line.

I have used the Rider Switch Service quite often and this is how it worked for me. I also made sure to call and speak to two different Cast Members for you and was told this is the current information. I hope it's helpful as you plan your vacation!

Nicole, I do hope you have the most magical time at The Most Magical Place on Earth!
