We are a group of 6, 4adults and DD6 and DD2. What should we expect when arriving at port for checkin and what should be the first things we do when on the ship that very first afternoon/evening? We have the early dinner and not sure what to do:)

    Hi Connie!
The arrival at the cruise terminal is such an exciting time because it means you will soon be hearing the words "Welcome Aboard!" Check-in is an easy process and you will have your "Key to the World" card in your hand along with a ship's map and your first newsletter, the Personal Navigator.  While you wait have a look at the first afternoon's activities in the inside cover and be on the lookout for your favorite characters who will make an appearance for photos and autographs in the terminal. Be sure you have your camera, autograph books and pen ready.  Once your boarding number is called (given to you at check-in), you will stop for an embarkation picture and then will be gliding your way up the gangway to enter the Grand Lobby Atrium!  My family is usually hungry by the time we board so we head to either Parrot Cay (Deck Three) or up to the buffet (Beach Blanket Buffet) on Deck Nine.  Both offer similar menu items so if you want to enjoy scenic views during lunch then head up to Deck Nine.
After lunch, there are two options to consider-exploring the ship, going for a swim or both!  My kids are always ready to take the plunge so I pack our suits and sunscreen in the carry-on so we have them handy.  After swimming, we head to the Oceaneer Club to pick up Mickey bands and to check out these fun spaces.  After 1:30, your stateroom will be ready so be sure to stop by and drop off your carry-on.  Around 3:45 all shipboard operations will stop so Guests can participate in the mandatory Lifeboat Drill which lasts about 30 minutes.  A high-energy deck party will follow and you won't want to miss it. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early so you can get close up to the stage.  Around 5:00, grab a spot up on Deck 10 to wave bon voyage to Miami!  Dinner is at 5:45 so you should have plenty of time to enjoy all the sail away festivities!
I'm about out of room, Connie!  So please continue to write back!
