Great answers before, so I'm back.. Planning on a stay at the Contemporary in March.Kds chose all table service meals. They didn't pick Chef Mickey, but I think when they see it they will want to go. Do they hold spots for walk in guests staying there?

There are no spots held for walk-ins at any WDW restaurant. I think your assumption about your kids is likely a good one. If you're in that 4th area of the Contemporary with the monorail and the gift shops, you're going to see Chef Mickey's. The seeing the characters and the celebrations is likely to attract any child.

I am very much a better-safe-than-sorry girl. My suggestion to you would be to go ahead and make a reservation. You can always cancel it, even the same day. There is no penalty for cancelation at Chef Mickey's. That way, you'll be the hero mom if you kids want to eat there, and there is no downside if they decide they don't.
