I am a Grandmother with a bad knee. I can walk fine, but cannot stand for long. Can I bring a portable seat to the park so I can visit with my granddaughter? It collaspes to about the size of a water bottle.

    Hi there, Lynn!

I checked the Disneyland Resort Rules, and unfortunately, folding chairs of any kind aren’t allowed in either of the theme parks. However, there are several options that may help you have a more comfortable experience. First, I’d recommend stopping by a Guest Relations Main Entrance location upon arrival at the Disneyland Resort. You can speak with a Cast Member about your specific needs, and explain that it’s difficult for you to stand for long periods of time. Depending on your situation, the Cast Member may be able to set you up with Disability Access Service (DAS) to prevent you from waiting in conventional attraction queues for long periods of time.

Another option to help you get around is to rent a wheelchair or electronic conveyance vehicle (ECV) for a daily fee. Wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis just outside the Disneyland Park Main Entrance.

My mom was in a similar situation as you prior to and following her knee-replacement surgeries, so I understand the need to take breaks and rest! Here are some of my family’s favorite ways to do just that:

-Take a ride on the Disneyland Railroad or Monorail
-Watch a show like Mickey and the Magical Map or Storytelling at Royal Theatre
-Indulge in a delicious treat at The Tropical Hideaway while watching the Jungle Cruise

Don’t hesitate to ask a Cast Member for any help you may need. Wishing you a magical, comfortable visit to the Disneyland Resort!

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for about 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 7, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
