What's a good sit-down restaurant @ HS? We are on the basic dining plan. It is DH, DS9, DS11 & me. Thanks.

Two good choices for older kids at Disney's Hollywood Studios: the 50's Prime Time Cafe and the Sci-Fi Dine-In.

The 50's Prime Time serves good old American comfort food: meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken, etc. The restaurant is themed to look like a 1950s kitchen, with great details like period cookie jars and artwork and black-and-white TVs. The servers make you feel at home. I mean really at home. They act like they are your family. If you use the restroom, they'll ask you if you washed your hands, and so on. It's really a hoot. A few years ago, our server "Mom" made my husband stand in the corner for a few minutes because he kept putting his elbows on the table. This is all in good fun and my daughters LOVED it. They thought that Daddy getting reprimanded was a riot.

The Sci-Fi is themed to look like an old-time drive-in movie. The tables are "cars" facing a large screen. This lights are dim and on the screen you'll see clips from campy science fiction movies from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. You'll see stuff like robots that are clearly made of cardboard. There are also old drive-in promos run -- things like dancing hot dogs urging you to buy more popcorn. So silly!

These two restaurants are a great way to experience the unique Disney magic without being at a character meal. A wonderful option for kids who may think they are "too old" for the characters.

    Have fun!
