Good Morning, we are scheduling a Family get away for May 2018 and how far out can we make reservations and how far out can we book a dining plan? Thanks!

    Hi Walt,

I love that you're already planning your family's Walt Disney World vacation for 2018!  It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who likes to think ahead.  There are a few important milestones to keep in mind as your travel dates get closer.

First, remember the number 499.  That's how many days in advance you can call to make a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort hotel.  The specific date you can call is based on your check-out (not check-in) date, so just count backward from there.  If you need a calculator to help with that, there's a good one on the unofficial site (look for the "Calculator" link in the upper left).  When that magical day arrives, just call the reservation line at (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639).  Rates won't yet be guaranteed, but you'll have the peace of mind knowing you have exactly the dates, hotel and room type you want for your vacation.

When 2018 information is released, which I'd expect to happen sometime between late June and early August 2017, you can then call back to confirm rates and convert that room-only reservation to a package by adding on things like the Disney Dining Plan, Memory Maker and theme park tickets.

You'll also want to mark your calendar for 180 days before your trip, which is when you'll be able to make dining reservations.  You can make those reservations online on the Dining page or by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463).

That will take you to about 6 months before your visit.  Once you've reached that point, just stop back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel again and we would be happy to help you be sure you're all set with your FastPass+ selections, MagicBands and more.

    Wishing you pixie-dusted planning, Walt!
