Character Dining with Donald Duck

What are good dining options for a 3 year old who is a very picky/selective eater and has little patience for sitting in a restaurant and a group of adults who want to sit down and have a nice relaxing meal? Mostly Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

    Hi, Lisa!

My best advice to you as a Mom who survived taking little ones to Walt Disney World is to really work around your little Mouseketeer. Choose locations that will make your child happy, even if it may not be your first choice. Enjoy their company, watch their every move, and take lots of pictures because in a blink of an eye you will have teenagers racing out of dinner to move onto their next FastPass+ while the parents linger in their dust to pay the bill!

Try to book character buffets when possible. Once seated, you can jump right into the buffet line so no waiting for food. The characters will circulate so kids are excited as they wait to meet their favorite Disney Pals. These buffet locations have a special section with kid-friendly food, usually chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and other fan favorites The good news is that most buffets are quite extensive, so adults will find plenty of wonderful options for a really nice dinner, so it's a win for everyone! At Disney's Animal Kingdom, see if you can get a table at Tusker House with Safari Donald and friends, and at Magic Kingdom you will find the Crystal Palace to be quite a treat with Pooh and his silly pals. Early dining and early bedtimes also seemed to help when my kids were young.

If you truly want an adult night out on the town, perhaps you can look into in-room child care. Kid's Nite Out provides services in your resort hotel room so your little one is safe and parents can head out for a magical evening.

Enjoy this magical time with your toddler. They are so precious at this age, so soak in every minute!
