Hi K! Good dilemma: later flight home! Need to decide what to do. DH,DS7&5+me arrive MCO 10/8@2P then ME to AKV. Orig plan: 10/8 go to AK for dinner/EMH + No plan for 10/15. Flight now leaves@4:30P. Upgrade to 8dayPH? Go to park only 10/8 OR 15? other

Hi Erin, That sounds like a great dilemma indeed!

If you arrive at 2pm on 10/8, you can plan on getting to the Animal Kingdom Villas by 4:30. While it may be quicker, the Magical Express often takes several hours including getting to the counter, waiting for your bus, driving to Disney and stopping at other Resorts to drop off Guests. On average, it has been 2.5 hours for our family. After checking in at your Resort, you'd catch a bus over to the Animal Kingdom. If all goes quickly, you could be in the Park by 5:15. The Extra Magic Hours for October 8th are until 8:00pm. This will leave you with about 3 hours (give or take) to grab a quick service dinner and maybe enjoy an evening Safari or ride Expedition Everest...what a great "kick-off" for your trip!

Looking at 10/15 instead, if your flight leaves at 4:30pm, you can plan on the Magical Express picking you up around 1:30 at your Resort. I checked the calendar and none of the Parks have EMH that morning. So, they all open at 9:00am. If you get up early and store your bags, you can have 3.5 hours or so to enjoy one of the Parks...a fantastic chance to ride a few favorites one last time.

Checking the ticket prices for 2 adults and 2 children, you are looking at approximately $20 total to upgrade from 7 day to 8 day Park Hopper tickets. My vote is to upgrade. In fact, because it is such a small price difference to upgrade, we always purchase tickets for every day. That way, we have them in the event that we want to go.

Hope this helps and please let me know if I can assist you further,
