Can you use a go pro at Disney?

Hey, Joe! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks so much for snapping your question over to us! A couple of summers ago, my sister and I were looking through pictures of our Walt Disney World vacations from when we were kids. We could not stop laughing at the HUGE video camera my dad carried all over the place, fully documenting every move we made. We love watching those home movies my dad made, but I just cannot even imagine how heavy that thing must have been for him! Luckily, cameras and video cameras have gotten much smaller over the years, making it much easier to preserve those family memories. The GoPro is one such fantastic device and I have noticed a few of these being used at various spots across Walt Disney World Resort.

Looking over the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, I see restrictions on selfie sticks or hand-held extension poles for cameras, and the use of tripods or monopods to hold devices. The GoPro is fine to use in most instances as long as you have it strapped to your body. However, Cast Members may ask you to remove it for some attractions. Also, keep an eye out for attractions that have signage stating that photography is not allowed. In my personal experience with taking pictures during an attraction, you may not have a great view unless you sit towards the front of the ride vehicle. You are always welcome to ask the Cast Member if you may sit on the front row, such as at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but please understand that this may extend your wait a bit.

Walt Disney World Resort does reserve the right to change the park rules at any time, so please check the property rules page before your arrival. Also, to help you capture even more pixie-dusted moments, be sure to include Memory Maker in your vacation plans, which will include all Disney PhotoPass pictures taken during your trip and can even include on-ride video and photos! I hope this information helps you plan your pixie-dusted adventures and please let us know if you have any other questions!
