    Margaret Asked

We want to go to a Disney Hotel. My son is 18 and autistic and we really would like a quiet hotel. He also suffers with many neurological problems and uses a wheelchair., how can we also guarantee a ground floor room.

    Hello Margaret!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I hope you are having a magical week!

When making your hotel reservation, instead of doing so online, I would highly recommend calling the Disney Resort Hotel you would like to stay at directly. My youngest is autistic as well and has hypotonia and we often end up using a large stroller as a wheelchair for him throughout our stay. We prefer to stay over at the resorts near Epcot so we don’t have to use the complimentary buses as often. You can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, as well as take a boat to both from resorts such as Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn.

Once in the parks, I would go to Guest Relations and inquire about the Disability Access Service Card as well. This helps my son greatly as you can use it in conjunction with Fastpass+ and it helps with wait times and cuts down on the over stimulation of the crowds and attraction queues.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions as you plan your visit!

    See you real soon!
