Given the parks will be opening at 6am for extra magic hours in September will the restaurants and dining locations be opening early to get food in the resort before we leave for the parks? We are booked at the yacht club

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Miriam!

I’m so excited about the upcoming extra, Extra Magic Hours benefit for Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guests, and EXTRA-excited to hear that you’ll get to take advantage of these extra-magical hours during your vacation this September!

From September 1 to November 2, 2019, Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel will be able to enjoy extended theme park hours; please take a look at the extra, Extra Magic Hours web page for all the details. A quick clarification: not all the theme parks will be opening at 6:00 a.m. – that’s just Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where Guests will be blasting off to a galaxy far, far away to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Magic Kingdom Park will open at 7:00 a.m. during extra, Extra Magic Hours. Your best bet is to check the Walt Disney World Park Hours so you can plan each day to the fullest, and note that hours are always subject to change.

Miriam, at this time, it doesn’t look like there are plans to open resort dining locations earlier than 6:00 a.m. during extra, Extra Magic Hours. Because you’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, it will be easy to visit the dining locations in Disney’s Beach Club Resort, giving you some extra options. In the resort, Beach Club Marketplace and The Market at Ale & Compass are currently scheduled to open at 6:00 a.m. in September; I recommend keeping an eye on the posted hours as you get closer to your vacation to see if those change. In the theme parks, I’ve always found Starbucks and Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company to be open at park opening, so you should be able to get your pixie-dusted caffeine and a breakfast sandwich or sweet treat (I LOVE the frosted donuts at Joffrey’s).

My family always brings or orders groceries to our resort room, and one of the reasons is breakfast. We find it easier (and more budget-friendly) to eat some yogurt, cereal, or fruit in the room as we’re getting ready, and to bring snack items in our backpacks for mid-morning. My pal Beth walks you through having groceries delivered in this answer; please note that there is currently a $6 handling fee for having Bell Services deliver packages to your resort room, and this amount is subject to change and does not include a tip.

Whew! I hope all this information helps you avoid a rumbly in your tumbly so you can let the EXTRA magic begin this fall. As we get closer to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this August, I’ll bet that the Disney Parks Blog will have you covered with lots of news and strategies about making your visit truly out-of-this world, so watch for those dispatches, and please come back and see us if we can help as you plan and dream.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
