Oh so many questions in such little space but I will try to answer them all in the best way I can!

January is a great time to visit if you don't enjoy the heat and crowds of summer!  From January 7-10 Disney will host its annual marathon which will bring more guests to the parks during that time.  Since you plan on being there for a longer time you can avoid the parks on those days and enjoy some of the resort recreation.

I have not used the dining plans at Disney but they are very popular and they are cost saving.  Take a look at the options.....the basic plan is what many suggest as it gives you a lot of choices and opportunity to dine at some wonderful locations.  Check out the Magic Your Way packages that can include everything together!

Please consider using the complimentary Magical Express (click please) service from the airport for all Disney resort guests.  Once you have requested this service they will send you tags for your bags and you won't see them again until they are delivered to your room at the resort. You can read a more in depth description of this service by clicking on the link above.

My favorite value resort is Pop Century.  Many guests just want a clean place to put their heads at night since they won't be spending a lot of time in their rooms.  The value resorts do attract a lot of groups such as sports, dance, cheer teams so if this is something you might not enjoy you can consider moving up a notch and reserving a moderate resort location.  My favorite in this category is the Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter.
