when gettng fastpasses and needing to use rider switch how can we avoided fast passes expiring on the group watching the child if for instance we are only able to make the ride towards the end of our one hour window

    Hi Meghan,

Congratulations on your upcoming vacation to Walt Disney World!  When vacationing with young children who aren't able to experience some of the height-restricted attractions, the Rider Switch Service at Walt Disney World provides a handy feature that allows adult Guests to take turns.

Meghan, have no worries about the adult who waits with the non-riding child.  The waiting adult will be issued a Rider Switch "ticket" to redeem at any point that same day.  As long as you request a Rider Switch ticket from the Cast Member at the attraction before the first group goes in, you won't have any problems.  Personally I have used my family's Rider Switch ticket hours later in the same day without any problems.

The current policy for the Rider Switch service as outlined in the above link states that the waiting adult may take 1 additional Guest with them on the attraction.  However be sure to read what is printed on your Rider Switch ticket because in the recent past I have experienced these Rider Switch tickets stating 2 additional Guests may accompany the waiting Adult.  Since practices often change, the most up to date information will be what is actually occurring at the theme parks when you visit.  If you ever have any questions, the Cast Members are always amazing sources of information and helpful tips.  Regardless if the waiting adult may take 1 or 2 others on the attraction with them, it is an amazing perk!

Thank you for your question Meghan.  Please come back and visit us again here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel as you continue with your vacation planning.  We love to help in any way we can!
