We will be getting a special needs pass for our daughter and I was just wondering if it is something you have to get new everyday and what all it covers. We missed meeting some characters last visit because she couldn't stand in line for long time periods.

Hi there Paul. After traveling with dietary, sensory and mobility restrictions in my own family, I have experienced first hand that Walt Disney World is the IDEAL vacation to recommend for accommodating special needs travel.

Simply visit any Guest Services location inside one of the Disney theme park entrances to request a Guest Assistance Card for your daughter. This card will be good for the entire length of your vacation and you will not need to obtain a new one for each park you are visiting. While it is not required that you provide a doctor's letter or any evidence of your daughter's special needs, many people do take documentation with them for backup. You will need to be able to explain to the cast member providing the card what your daughter's challenges are and what assistance she will require to make the most out of her Disney vacation experience. Additional information, including printable in-depth park guides are located at this link to the Disney website.

For some unofficial planning resources, I typically use www.Mouse-Aid.com and Passporter's book "Open Mouse" and you may also find these helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to visit us at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel and feel free to send more questions our way in the days leading up to your trip! May your Disney vacation be practically perfect in every way!
