We are getting ready to book a reservation at Ft. Wilderness Cabins. We are debating on the discounted hotel rate & eating breakfast in the room & maybe a couple other meals or the free dining pkg. Which would be more economical? Thanks!

Yo, Yvette! Great question. I like how you're approaching your conundrum by weighing your options.

When you're comparing costs of your options for vacation packages, chances are you would visit more restaurants and order pricier options off the menu if you had the free dining plan. Those are some of the leading benefits to the dining plan - the convenience, the encouragement to try out more restaurants and not having to worry about the prices while you're on vacation.

If you were paying out of pocket, you might scale back the number of restaurants you visit and pay closer attention to the cost of entrees and desserts. In turn, you'd be spending less on food than what you might compute to be the total savings associated with the free dining plan. If the difference is greater than the money you'd save with the room-only discount, then go with the dining promotion. I have a strong feeling you'll find it to be more economical to go with the room-only discount.
