A friend who uses a wheelchair is interested in doing a runDisney event, but does not own a racing wheelchair, just a power chair. Someone will need to push him. Are racing wheelchairs available for rent from local vendors? Thanks!

    Hi, Kathleen!

I can't tell you how inspiring it is to hear you have a friend interested in participating in a runDisney event as a wheelchair athlete. I would love to know which race/distance event they are interested in participating in.

Wheelchair policies for 2014 have recently be revised and now require you to contact runDisney directly by emailing runDisney@DisneySports.com. Someone will be in touch with your friend to evaluate their individual circumstances. I hope this provides you and your friend with some direction in getting ready for their first runDisney event. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have an additional questions! This is truly something to celebrate!

    Have a magical day!
