Hi! My friend and I want to try to plan a Walt Disney World vacation for the beginning of January (after New Years, but before MLK Day). We're both college students and want to save as much money as possible. Any tips? Thank you!

    Hi Katelyn,

How exciting that you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort. January is a great time to visit, with low crowds as most children are back in school, and with great weather to enjoy.

I am all for stretching my Disney Dollars so here are some of my tips. First, Mickey wants to help our budgets, so he has some incredible Special Offers almost all year round. Keep an eye for winter offers hopefully later in the summer, or beginning of the fall.

Staying at a Disney Resort has many benefits, for example, complimentary transfers between Orlando International Airport and your hotel with Disney's Magical Express, and Extra Magic Hours for more time to play. You get free standard Parking everywhere, but you do not need a car, since you can use the complimentary Resort Transportation. You also have the option to add a Dining Plan, letting you prepay for your meals, when you book a Magic Your Way Vacation Package. One less thing to worry about!

One last tip: places like Costco or Sam's Club sell Disney Gift Cards at a discount. These are good throughout the Resort for dining, merchandise or even your vacation. Happy planning!
