    Shawna from SK Asked

I have a friend who recently lost her 4 yr old daughter to cancer. Are there any"memorial" type gifts or things one could buy and have placed somewhere in Disney World?. Since we are visiting soon I thought I'd check out any type of tribute ava

    Hi, Shawna:

What sad news. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's child.

There is no longer a tangible way to memorialize someone at Disney, since the discontinuation of the Leave a Legacy wall at Epcot and the Walk Around the World Bricks at the Magic Kingdom.

But there is certainly a beautiful and lasting way to honor her memory. Consider making a donation in the girl's name to one of the charities that works closely with Disney to provide children with terminal or life-threatening diseases with incredible vacation experiences, most of which at no cost to the family.

Two such examples are the Give Kids the World Village and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Give Kids the World (GKTW) is "a non-profit organization that exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village for as long as there is a need."

The Make-a-Wish Foundation "grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy."

Of course, these are only two options. For more guidance, please visit Disney's Corporate Citizenship page.

Best of luck to you, and again, my condolences.
