My friend and I (18 & I'm 17) are planning our grad. trip to Disney World in June 2011. We don't have credit cards so we're trying to figure how to pay for the hotel (value resort). Can she use her Moms card if she brings it along with a license? Any

    Hi Kate,

Congratulations on your impending graduation!  I have the great privilege to work with high school students every day and I realize what an important accomplishment it is to earn that diploma.  Walt Disney World sounds like a fabulous place to celebrate this important milestone in your life.

It is unlikely that Walt Disney World would accept your friend's mother's credit card if she is not present.  Have you considered paying your resort bill in full before departing for Walt Disney World?  If they agree to it, perhaps your parents or your friend's parents could put the fees on their credit card by calling Disney in advance.  Of course you could always pay for resort charges with cash, but there are obvious risks associated with carrying that much currency with you.  Traveler's checks in your name are another option that would be safer.  One other possibility would be to have your parent or your friend's parent request a credit card linked to their current account with your (or her) name on it.  Then you would have a credit card on hand, if necessary.

Good luck with your travel plans and have a safe trip!
