We have a FP for Rivers of Light at AK at 6:35pm. Is there any chance we can make it from that ride to the Polynesian beach in time to watch the MK 8pm fireworks across the lagoon? If so, what’s the fastest route from Rivers of Light to Polynesian’s beach?

Hi, Amanda! I'm happy to answer this one for you as it involves two of my Walt Disney World Resort favorites: Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and watching Happily Ever After from the beach of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

I'm sad to say, though, that I don't think you'll be able to do both of these on the same night. Although your Rivers of Light FastPass+ window begins at 6:35, the shows for the week of your visit are scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. By the time you exit the Theme Park it will probably be close to 7:45. With Happily Ever After scheduled for 8 p.m. during the week of your stay, I'm afraid you would miss it (or just catch the tail end of the finale). You could potentially engage Disney's Minnie Van Service to get you from place to place, but you would need to consult the Lyft app for information about times and availability. It's typically about a 15-minute drive between the two locations.

Should you still want to check out Disney's Polynesian Village Resort's beachfront, though, you can take Disney's complimentary bus transportation from Animal Kingdom to the hotel and catch the Electrical Water Pageant as it makes its way across the Seven Seas Lagoon. You'd have time to enjoy some shopping at the BouTiki, grab a Dole Whip from the Pineapple Lanai, and find a spot on the beach before the show begins at 10:35 p.m. Please keep in mind, though, that times are subject to change and this nighttime parade can be canceled in the event of inclement weather. However, this is one of my favorite ways to spend a relaxing evening at the Walt Disney World Resort.

    Enjoy your vacation, Amanda!
