Food allergy question: say you are eating at a breakfast buffet and you can't eat gluten, eggs, dairy, or sugar/carbs, so the chef makes you some meat and salad. Are you charged for a plate or the buffet? We will not be on the dining plan.

    Hi Shannon!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. One of my little guys has multiple food allergies, so I know how difficult it can be to find safe and tasty options when you are accommodating food allergies at buffets. However, we have found the Chefs and Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort have been wonderful at making sure my son has plenty of food to eat that he can enjoy safely and that will also be just as tasty as everyone else's plate, even while accommodating his Special Dietary Requests. You will still be charged at the buffet rate, however the Chef will be able to offer you a variety of options for you to enjoy during your meal.  In cases where my son cannot safely eat from the buffet, the chef has asked him what he would like to enjoy for his meal and they are fantastic about delivering safe options he can enjoy. In fact, they are often able to provide items that are not even on their standard menu and he gets incredible portions. He doesn't miss out one bit and I don't think you will either during your meals!

I recommend that you contact the Special Diets Team directly by emailing them at Special.Diets@disneyworld.com so they can give you information about accommodating your speciifc set of allergies and dietary requirements and help you coordinate with the Chefs at the restaurants where you plan on dining prior to your trip. Please let us know if you have any other questions! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
