This is our first WDW family vacation!! We are going May11 -May17, with a 4,7 and 10 y.o. We will be arriving at 6pm. What is the best thing to do or see on the 1st day? We have a 4 day park hopper and the 15th is for Discovery Cove.

Hi Jillian! Congratulations on your First Visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! Since you'll be arriving later in the evening, I would recommend visiting the Downtown Disney Area. Alternatively, I would suggest watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from outside the theme park. There are several spots that will afford very nice views of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. For example, the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort offers some fantastic views. The show's audio is piped-in through several ground-level speakers along the sidewalk. Other options include the boat dock and outside observation deck near Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Gasparilla Grill Patio, located in the same resort, provides some very nice views of Wishes too. The California Grill observation deck on the fourth floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort is my favorite viewing spot. However, it is exclusively reserved for patrons of the California Grill and Bar. If you want to see and hear Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from inside a restaurant, the choices are Narcoossee's, Ohana's, and California Grill. Since you'll be traveling with children, I would recommend making an Advanced Dining Reservation at Ohana's as it will afford them the opportunity to play at the beach while simultaneously enjoying the spectacular fireworks display. Have a fantastic and memorable First Visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
