First trip to WDW, staying at AKL, we will be arriving 8/12 and leaving 8/17 (late). We have the 5 day, park hopper, water park option. With EMH, wanting to do luau and cirque we are so confused as to how to plan our itinery. Can you help? Thanks!

    Lisa,

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but honestly I would advise you to take a step back.  I think that you might be trying to fit too many big things into one short vacation, and it may wind up adding to your stress level rather than providing you with a relaxing vacation.

The Magic Kingdom and Epcot are especially large parks, and I generally allow 2 days in each park to fully explore.  Add to that Hollywood Studios, the Animal Kingdom, 2 water parks, Disney Quest, a luau, Cirque Du Soleil, and-and-and...you see where I'm going.  It's a LOT.  We typically stay in Disney for 12 days at a time and would still feel rushed trying to visit all of those places.  I'm not sure that doing it all in 5 days is very realistic, especially with this being your first Disney vacation.

If I were your trip planner, I would recommend that you talk to your family and have everyone pick their 'must-do' for the trip - be that a theme park, a show, or whatever.  Then I'd make sure we hit those few highlights, and cancel a lot of the other plans.  There is never enough time to see and do it all, and there will always be things left to explore the next time.  I believe the key to a great Disney vacation isn't squeezing it all in, but rather allowing free time to let the magic happen.

    Best of luck!
