This is our first trip to WDW, so I want to do it right (as much as I can). We have reservations at the Liberty Tree Character Dinner. Do you think my 8yr son and 5yr daughter would prefer Chef Mickey? Thank you for your help/advise!!!

First of all, let me assure you that Liberty Tree Tavern is a great choice.  In fact, it's a must-do for our family during every trip.  We enjoy it there because the characters always seem to make at least two stops by our table before we finish our meal.  The restaurant is on the smaller side so the characters seem to have more time to interact with the guests.  We've found the characters to be more playful at Liberty Tree than at any of the other character meals we've done, and we've done a lot!  My daughters still talk about the time Chip and Dale tried to steal my grandmother's hat during our first trip to Liberty Tree Tavern back in 2001.

Of course, Chef Mickeys is also a sure bet for fun, especially if your children are hoping to see the big cheese himself.  Another bonus at Chef Mickeys is that the monorail can be seen whirring by overhead, right through the middle of the Contemporary Resort.  And the ambience at Chef Mickeys is louder and more upbeat.

My personal preference is Liberty Tree Tavern because I prefer a quieter, calmer meal and my children enjoy the crazy antics the characters there deliver.  Take these thoughts into consideration though and decide which experience would be more suitable for your family.  Have a fantastic trip!
