First trip tp WDW! Yeah! We will be staying at the All Star Movie resort. We were wondering if it is better to rent a car or use the disney buses w/ 3 young kids? Also will we have to pay to park our car at the resort? Thank you and love you site!!

The answer to this question is quite subjective and probably depends a lot on the time of the year that you are traveling as well as the personalities of your traveling party.

We just returned from our family's WDW vacation. We chose to rent a car for most of our stay but did use the bus system a few times. While some of the members of the Moms Panel find the buses work well for their family, I am not a bus person. I think my issue is with never knowing when the bus will arrive, depart and how long the journey will take. If the bus schedule was known to me ahead of time, then I could cope.

For instance, my son and I left the Animal Kingdom one day after lunch and got in line for the Grand Floridian bus. We stood for 30 minutes before the bus even pulled up. The family in line ahead of us had already been waiting for 15 minutes. Had I known the bus schedule, I would have elected to stay in the park a little while longer rather than standing in the hot sun for that half hour. My husband who was headed to the WDW Dolphin to pick up our car rental (thank goodness) actually got to the Dolphin, rented the car, returned to the Grand Floridian, parked in self-parking (which is a long walk) and got to our room about 10 minutes ahead of us!

After the long wait, we also had to stop at Blizzard Beach and the Contemporary before heading to our hotel.

All of your parking within the WDW resort (theme parks, resorts, Downtown Disney, etc) will be free when you show Your Key to the World card which you get at check in.
