A Ride in the Teacups

Our first trip is this spring. Kids are 4 and 6. Don't know where to start in planning out our 2 days. We plan to go to both Disneyland and California Adventure. If we only have 1 day in each park- what's the best plan?

Hi there, Bethany! Thanks for trusting the Disney Parks Moms Panel to help you plan your upcoming trip to the Disneyland Resort!

I am so excited that you will be spending two days at the parks this spring. If you plan to only visit one park per day, you will want to start by making a list of your must-do attractions and entertainment offerings. Search through the attractions page to see which ones your kids are tall enough to ride and which ones you will want to prioritize. In Disneyland Park, "it's a small world," Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Mad Tea Party, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are always at the top of my family's list. Over in Disney California Adventure Park, we usually ride Radiator Springs Racers or Toy Story Midway Mania first thing in the morning and then plan on seeing Frozen - Live at the Hyperion after lunch.

Speaking of lunch, your next bit of planning should be dining reservations which can be made up to 60 days in advance. During your two-day trip, you might consider making a dinner reservation at one of the signature restaurants like Blue Bayou Restaurant or Carthay Circle Restaurant and then perhaps book a character breakfast for your second day. Some meals can be quite popular so advanced dining reservations are a must. You can make these online, on the Disneyland app, or by calling (714) 781-3463.

Next, plan for some nighttime entertainment like Fantasmic! or, if you are traveling after April 13th, plan to see the Paint the Night parade - it is my absolute favorite and definitely a must-see!

Finally, stop by the Disney Parks Moms Panel again with any and all questions you have as we would love to help you plan your magical vacation!
