This is our first trip in September. We are there for 5 full days and plan to do the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood studios. How much should we plan and how much should we just leave to "chance" (walking around and just seeing what h

    Hi Rachael!
First off, WOO HOO on planning your first trip to Walt Disney World!! Yes!!
I like your choice of parks and think that a minimum of 2 days should be spent just at Magic Kingdom.
Without getting too wrapped around the axle about planning, I think/feel/believe that at least some level of planning should be done. Otherwise, there is SO much to see and do that you will never get off of Main Street USA.
I recommend utilizing the new FastPass+ system so that you are at least able to do your favorite, must-do attractions, And if there are "must dine" restaurants that you are hoping to enjoy, you really do need to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs), which can be done 180 days before your trip.
I hope this helps and I wish you a Magical trip!! :)
