First trip 11/2009!! Kids are 13 months, 4, and 6. Thinking about just bringing a single stroller for the baby. Should we bring another stroller for the older kids or is renting reasonable? Flying and not sure we can bring our double stroller.

    Hi Amy,

You are smart to bring a stroller for the little one. However, you should still be able to bring your double stroller on the plane without a problem or a fee. Most airlines will allow you to gate check your stroller. To gate check an item, you bring it with you all the way through the gate and you leave it on the jetway prior to boarding the plane. The ground crew will store it for you under the plane and then they will move it back to the jetway when you arrive at your destination. This is what I did with my stroller. Check with your carrier if there is a fee but I am not aware of any carrier currently imposing a fee on gate check items.

I would recommend bringing your double. When my girls were 4 and 6, we still used the stroller for Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Epcot is almost two miles from front to back and Animal Kingdom has a bumpy terrain and you weave back and forth across the park. Magic Kingdom at this age we used the stroller to move them between the lands but parked it while we were in a particular area. Hollywood Studios is also small and, with the sitting for the shows, you could get away without a stroller.

I think the current price for stroller rental is too high. However, you can now rent a stroller for the length of stay which is great!

    Happy vacation!
