Hi this is our first trip to DW and if the weather looks bad, are we still going to able to go in the parks like animal kingdom and magic kingdom? For how long does it rain?  We are going to be there for ten days from August 3rd to the 13nd.

The Disney parks will remain open in all but the most severe weather. This means that the parks will be open unless there is a hurricane about to hit Orlando. I have been in the parks even during lightening storms and things were still going strong. Of course a few of the outdoor attractions do need to close temporarily during unsafe weather, but the vast majority of all the parks will be open even during heavy rain.

Obviously no one knows exactly how long any particular storm will last. However, for the most part rain at Disney is fairly short-lived, maybe an hour or two at the most. Then the sun will reemerge and dry everything off. I just checked weather.com for your vacation 10-day forecast. The "scattered thunderstorms" it mentions sounds to me like about an hour's worth or rain in the afternoon. That being said, I have been at WDW during entire rainy days with no slowdown of the deluge. In that case, you just need to throw on a poncho and some flip-flops and head out to have some fun anyway.

Hope your trip is magically dry!
