    Jamie from OH Asked

For our very first trip to DW, we are doing a five day base pass with 6 nights at AKL. My question is about skipping a day at the parks to enjoy the resort and use our 5th day tix at a park after checkout. Has anyone used this method (my husbands idea)

Hi, Jamie!  I am all about taking a day off to enjoy your resort and relax.  After all, it's your vacation!

You can absolutely put off your fifth park day until the day you check out.  You can still take advantage of extra magic hours - both morning and evening, if you'd like, and if you have any dining plan credits, they will still be good through the end of that last day.

If you are using Disney's Magical Express for transportation back to the airport at the end of your vacation, be aware that they generally schedule your return trip to Orlando International about three hours prior to your flight departure time.  So, if you're thinking you have a late afternoon or evening flight and you might get a full park day in, be aware that you will have to be back at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge about three hours before your flight to make your shuttle.

Another thing to be aware of in case you're driving - exhaustion!  My husband used to like to surprise our children with "one more day" of Disney magic by taking them to the parks on the day we were due to drive home.  I can say with every certainty, we never made it back to Jersey by the end of the day.  We rarely made it through Georgia before we had to stop for the night.  That last park day can make a long drive home seem inconceivable!

We just left Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I miss it already!  I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does!
