This will be our first trip to Disneyland after many trips to Walt Disney World. How many days in the parks should I allow for an adult trip?

    Hi, Karen!

From the west coast to the east coast, Disney magic is everywhere. You are going to love Disneyland. My kids describe it as "same but different" when comparing it to Walt Disney World. Sounds strange, but you will understand when you get to experience the beautiful Disneyland Resort!

For an adult trip, I would probably plan 2 full days in the parks. I always get the park hopper option. Unlike Walt Disney World where you have to take buses or monorails between parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are just a short walk apart from each other. It is so fun to be from one park to another in minutes! That is a very new experience for those who are used to travel times in Walt Disney World. Downtown Disney is also right there - I know, it is amazing, right?!

During your visit to Disney California Adventure Park, be in Cars Land right when the sun starts to set. This darling town of Radiator Springs comes alive with its neon and music. It is quite possibly one of my favorite Disney locations. Ask a cast member for the exact time the neon lights go on, you will not want to miss it. For some adventure, try Mickey's Fun Wheel or California Screamin' on the Pier. These are attractions that you cannot find in Orlando, so put these on your "to do" list.

When in Disneyland Park, plan to ride Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain. These are great examples of "same but different" as Magic Kingdom. You decide, but I think Disneyland's versions of these two attractions are a bit better!

Finally, remember that Disneyland still uses paper FastPasses, so you cannot plan ahead, but it is kind of fun getting those paper tickets again!

Enjoy your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
