This will be our first trip to Disney and I am trying to figure out how this magicband works. I was just going to purchase two, one for my husband and one for myself but Im wondering if my 3 year old needs one too? Is this true? Why would she need one?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Amber!

MagicBands are an amazing way to add convenience to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It simplifies our family's day significantly by integrating our theme park admission tickets, FastPass+ reservations and Memory Maker account into a comfortable bracelet. No one has to keep track of admission cards in their wallet or pocket and worry about losing them as each person wears his or her own band. This past weekend, I was in a queue behind a family who misplaced one of their admission cards while they were distributing them to prepare for their FastPass+ time and I was so grateful that my husband and I no longer need to manage everyone's tickets!

Since you mentioned purchasing your MagicBands, I am assuming you are not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel will receive complimentary MagicBands and will use them for their room key and credit card charging to their room, in addition to the standard MagicBand features. Day Guests to the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks are not required to purchase MagicBands for their trip. They can choose to use admission cards for theme park admission and FastPass+ reservations. Each Disney PhotoPass photographer will provide you with a card that will allow you access to your photographs.

Since your daughter is 3 years old, she will required a theme park admission ticket of her own. So if you choose to not purchase a MagicBand for her, someone will still need to keep track of her card during the day and have it handy to use for park admission and FastPass+ experiences. I have found that my son, who is also 3 years old, loves to feel included and wear his own MagicBand, just like the "big kids".
