Mom and daughter on Expedition Everest

This is my first trip to Disney with my family (spouse, 9 yr. old boy, and 5 yr. old girl) and we have purchased a package. How much spending money should I budget for 8 days for souvenirs, gratuities, small incidentals, etc.?

I know that an exact number would be nice, but it's kind of hard to do that without knowing more about your plans. Did the package you purchased include dining? And if so, is it quick service or table service dining? You will not need to leave a gratuity at a quick service eatery, but at table service restaurants you are presented with a 'bill' for an 18% gratuity based on the price of the meal itself, not the package you purchased. Because that amount can vary greatly, I find it helpful to look at the menus on Allears.net and see what the prices are at the places we intend to dine. It's easy to calculate your 'tip' budget that way.

In addition to dining gratuities, we tip baggage handlers and our Magical Express drivers $1-2 per bag, and housekeeping $1 per person, per day.

Souvenir prices vary widely based on what you select, but we typically give our kids a modest budget (say $20-$50 each) and let them choose what they want from that.

I've heard many guests say that they allow $100/day in spending money, which I believe is a very healthy budget. My family of 5 does not drink soda (ice water is free in the parks) and we aren't big snackers but we do eat a table service meal each day. I would say that we average between $50-75 per day.

    Hope that helps!
