First time to WDW in Dec and staying at value resort. Is it at all possible to take afternoon naps considering the commute to the parks? Also, what are the average wait times in line in mid dec? Will we be able to maximize our time at MK in one day? thx

    Hey Aubrey!

A fellow Mississippian! Thanks for your question.

We stayed at the All-Stars a few years back in December and found there to be plenty of buses to each of the parks. Disney's goal is to have you wait no longer than 20 minutes for a bus, and we found that our wait times at this resort were much shorter than that. The reason: the All-Stars have more rooms than any other resort property and so they get a larger ratio of buses. To back this up, I checked out the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and its Door-to-door Commuting Times from the Disney Resorts to the Parks and the chart shows that it's actually faster to take the bus than your own car from All-Stars to the Magic Kingdom! So, to answer your question: I think a nap is very doable.

A good game plan if you want to do MK in one day with a nap back at the room (instead in the Hall of Presidents or on the train...) is to get there about 30 minutes before opening so you can see as much as possible in the morning. Then, you'll be headed out of the park for your nap as the crowd thickens around lunch time. You'll be rested and ready to enjoy the parks as folks leave in the evening!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
