This will be our first time visiting Disney. We are going 9/1-9/6. Since they announced the FDP, I have been going back and forth about which resort to stay at? Either Disneys All Star movie resort or Port Orleans Riverside. What are the main differences?

    Hi Andrea.

Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel with your question. Isn't the announcement of some Free Dining Offers for the month of September fantastic? I'm glad to hear that you're planning to take advantage of this Magical deal!

The main differences between the two are in the areas of dining, recreation and bed sizes in the rooms. I'll explain a little about each for you.

Disney's All Star Movie Resort is a Value level resort. Fabulously themed, you'll find amenities here include a Quick Service food court, great, themed pools and bus service to the parks, water parks and Downtown Disney. Bus service is shared with the neighboring All-Star Sports and All-Star Music Resorts. Rooms are equipped with 2 double beds.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is a Moderate level resort. Theming here is as though you're in the lushness of Louisiana's bayou and plantations. There are both a Quick Service Food Court and Table Service Dining Restaurant, several quiet pools as well as a 'feature' pool area complete with water slide, bus service to all of the parks and water parks and a bus or boat to Downtown Disney. Additional recreational amenities here include a marina with boat rentals, surrey bike rentals, cane pole fishing, and horse drawn carriage rides on site. Rooms are equipped with 2 Queen size beds (Magnolia Bend rooms) in standard or Royal Guest Room themes (perfect for Little Princesses) or 2 Queens plus a child-size pull down wall bed in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort (perfect for Little Pirates or Princes).

I hope this information helps you with your decision. Should you have any additional questions about either of these resorts, or if you have additional questions about the Disney Dining Plan or would like dining recommendations, please feel free to write me back. I'd love to hear from you again Andrea.

Wishing you a Magical time planning your fall visit to Walt Disney World!
