This is our first time going to Disney World during Thanksgiving this year with 4 years old and 15 months old boys. What is a must to see/do? Please give me ideas!

    Hi Leona,

Wow, your first Walt Disney World vacation! How exciting!!

I'd love to share a few ideas to help you get started with your plans:

    1) Character meet-and-greets are usually on every guest's highlight reel when they think back on their Disney vacation! The characters and venues may change, so grab a times guide upon entering the theme parks to get the latest info.

    2) When it comes to attractions, I'd suggest taking a few minutes to browse DisneyWorld.com to get a feel what each theme park has to offer. You can filter the selections by age appropriateness, interests, thrill level, and other helpful criteria.

    3) With young children, I highly recommend being flexible with your schedule. There are so many things to see and experience that aren't necessarily on any of the guide maps. So, your children may want to stop for a few minutes to check out some of those off-the-map gems. Speaking from personal experience, meltdowns occur easily if you have to breeze past things like that because of a tight schedule.

(Just ask my wife - she hates it when I make a big scene and throw a temper tantrum in the theme parks!)

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

If you'd like to dine any of the table-service restaurants (at some of them, you can even have special meet-and-greets with the characters!), then I would highly recommend getting reservations for those meals as early as possible. It may sound unusual to book dining reservations 180 days in advance, but it's necessary because some restaurants are extremely popular and may not be possible to experience without a reservation.

I hope that helps to get some ideas flowing. I'd be more than happy to continue helping you, so please feel free to write back if you have questions about specific attractions, shows, resort hotels, restaurants, or anything else!

    Best regards,
    Derek
