This is my first time at Disney and I'm taking my 3 1/2 year old daughter. We only have 3 days and plan on spending 2 days in Magic Kingdom and 1 in Hollywood Studios. Any advice on how to maximize my time in Magic Kingdom? We're going 3/12 - 3/15....

    Hi Sonia!

Congratulations on your family's first big visit! Be sure to pick up a "First Visit" button at your resort hotel or at any of the theme parks Guest Relations. Then proudly wear it each day. Be prepared for all of the well wishes you will receive. Celebrations are always full of Pixie Dust at Walt Disney World and a first visit celebration is no exception.

My advice is to be at each theme park entrance about half an hour prior to the posted park opening hours. Guests usually will begin entering the park about 15 minutes prior to the official opening and there is a little "Rope Drop" opening ceremony to open each park. From there you should head to the attractions that are on your must-do list. My tip is to use the standby queues in the morning and make your FastPass+ selections for the afternoon when the standby queues are generally longer. For more specific advice on park itineraries I have often used Touring Plans. It is not an official Walt Disney World site, but does provide some useful park touring tips based on your family's preferences.

Another tip I have found useful to maximize my park time is to make reservations for one character meal per day. I love being able to feed my family in a temperature controlled environment while characters come and visit us. We are able to visit lots of our character friends this way and do not spend a lot of time waiting in line to visit many other characters.

And finally, don't become overtired. Going back to your hotel for a mid-afternoon break is a great idea for most families. Don't forget that this is vacation and that it's not possible to do everything on one trip. Some of my best memories are during my family's relaxation time at Walt Disney World.

Let us know if you have any more questions.  We are happy to help!
