Our first family WDW vacation is going to be 12/26/09-1/2/10. Our kids are 6 and 3 and this is their first time! We have just booked all of our Character/Table Service meals, but is there anything else we can do to make this busy vacation go smoothly?

    Hi Andrea,

You are visiting at a beautiful time of the year, all the Christmas decorations at the parks and resorts are simply beautiful. It is however an extremely busy time to visit so you've done the right thing by booking all of your dining reservations early!

What I suggest you do next is to really research each park and decide which attractions you think your family will like. The main Disney website has some fantastic information, photos and video but I also really like www.allears.net, www.wdwinfo.com and www.disboards.com I would also recommend that you consider joining a paid site such as www.tourguidemike.com or www.touringplans.com to help you plan your days in the park. They don't cost much but the information is invaluable, even now after many years of visiting WDW I still have a rough touring plan for each park. As a general rule you should get to the parks for opening, ride the most popular attractions as early as possible and always always use the fast pass system. If you're unsure on how the fast pass works there is a great video right here on the Moms Panel site, to access it click HERE and it's currently on page 4.

As your children are young I would also recommend you plan some down-time everyday, whether that is a swim, a nap or just letting them have some time in the playground it will make your trip so much happier! Also realise you won't be able to do everything at WDW in one trip, choose your "must do's", enjoy them and remember you can visit again!

If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask again,
