This is our first family vacation to Disney World. Currently, I have the trip planned as 2 days in MK and 2 in Epcot. I've been debating about Animal Kingdom for 1 day instead of 2 at Epcot. My kids are 5 and 2. Thank you!

    Hello Jessica,

I am delighted you have brought this question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. How exciting it must be to plan your first family vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort! Your family will have a wonderful experience with your current plan but my family loves Animal Kingdom. Our girls were absolutely amazed when we rode Kilimanjaro Safaris. The animals are stunning. We also always visit The Festival of the Lion King show. When my girls were five, a cast member invited them to participate at the end of the show and it was such an unforgettable experience after they gathered the courage to go! The last time we explored Animal Kingdom, my girls spent time at The Boneyard Fossil Fun play area. Since this is your first family trip, I also think you might find the Animal Kingdom Attractions list helpful. It gives information on height requirements and will give you a better sense of what attractions your children might enjoy.

Finally, if you have not already done so, reserve a meal with Donald Duck and pals at Tusker House Restaurant in Animal Kingdom. We love the personal character experiences and doing breakfast allows us to get to the park early. With younger children, I have found it good to visit the parks in the morning and head back to the resort for an afternoon nap or pool time.

Rest assured that whatever decision you make, your family will have a wonderful time.

    Wishing you unbelievable magic!
