This will be our very first family trip with my husband and five kids, one of our kids is autistic. Is there any special services that Disney offers .

Greetings, Norma, and congratulations on your first family trip! You couldn’t have picked a better spot to visit than the Happiest Place on Earth!

The Disneyland Resort does an exceptional job of making sure all of its Guests are comfortable, especially those with disabilities or special needs. In fact, there’s a whole page on the website dedicated to Services for Guests with Disabilities. There’s also a section on Guests with Cognitive Disabilities, including those on the Autism Spectrum, and the services offered to enhance their visit -- from break areas to attraction guides to dietary accommodations. I especially love the helpful preparation tips, with ideas like planning a visual schedule, watching videos, and studying location maps.

Upon entering the parks, I recommend stopping by Guest Relations at either City Hall (Disneyland Park) or Chamber of Commerce (Disney California Adventure Park) to chat with a Cast Member about your child’s specific needs, so they can help you come up with the best plan for your family. This may include Disability Access Service, which helps Guests who have difficulty waiting in long lines.

Also, to avoid the possibility of waiting in line at a Main Entrance Ticket Booth, I recommend purchasing tickets in advance online or by calling (714) 781-4636.

    Wishing you magical Disney adventures!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for about 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 7, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
