First I don't know how families 'afford' deluxe resorts or villas but I want to if you think its worth it? Comparing Contemporary and GF which is better? Also considering Boardwalk or SS, traveling with 2 kids 2 1/2 and 12 wks in Feb. 2011.

Hi, Jennifer!  I guess the cost of the deluxe resorts is a perspective thing.  We live near Philadelphia, staying occasionally overnight if we attend an event.  We also travel once in a while to Manhattan.  Hotel rates even for a small room can equal the cost of a Walt Disney World deluxe room, and I don't get free transportation or Extra Magic Hours!  Imagine the expression on the face of the concierge at a hotel in Chicago when I asked what time Magical Express was taking me to the airport!

I think the deluxe or villa resorts are worth it, if your budget allows.  I always found other areas to cut - like food and souvenirs - in order to stay at the deluxe resorts.  The rooms are larger, the amenities are nicer, and for some of them, there is easy monorail access.

Between the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian, it's really personal taste.  I like the Contemporary because I LOVE the morning walk to the Magic Kingdom; and my family enjoys the constant celebration that is Chef Mickey's whenever we are browsing the shops.  I like the decor at the Grand Floridian, and we love the restaurants there.

Between the Boardwalk or Saratoga Springs, if you are talking about the villas specifically, I like the Boardwalk Villas.  Again, I like the morning walk - this time to EPCOT - and I love the evening entertainment that frequently pops up on the Boardwalk.

The villas, by the way, can be a huge savings in food (you'll have either a small kitchenette or a full kitchen), and if you are in a one bedroom or larger, you will also have a washer and dryer, which can save a small fortune on airline baggage fees.

Have a wonderful vacation, whichever you decide!
