I have finally convinced my husband to visit Disney, with our 2 kids, 10 & almost 2. Is taking advantage of the free Dining Plan worth the savings? Or when do you recommend visiting (between now & April)? Any advice for the kids age difference?Thx

Hi Rachel! Great job convincing your husband.....it isn't always easy! Many men think that Disney is just for kids but once they arrive and you have a great plan in place they are amazed at how much fun they too can have.

The Free Dining plans are certainly great for families who like to have their vacations paid for before they leave home.  It helps with the budget knowing you aren't going to have to dig out the wallet for each meal.  But honestly my own family does not use the plans or the free dining. We prefer to make reservations at our liking and not having to count credits and pick locations according to the plan.  It is truly a personal preference and what works best for you.

I feel that going to Disney at the best time for you is better then worrying about whether it is Free Dining or not. Look at the calendar and see a time that fits your schedule. I personally like the fall months but that would be a quick planned trip for you. Consider early February if as the crowds haven't grown with the spring breakers and it isn't around a holiday. Next best choice is early (first week or so) of March. The crowds will be greater but nothing you can't manage with planning.

There will be attractions where the younger child will not be able to enjoy or want to enjoy. You can split up with one going with each child and then meeting back after a bit or you can enjoy the ride swap that many of the thrill rides allow. Check the website and read the descriptions of the attractions and make a list of what the entire family can enjoy together. Plan around that with your breaks for the other ones. Don't forget to understand the Fast Pass system so you shorten some of the lines.

Let us help with your planning...get dining reservations as soon as your 180 window to your arrival hits!
