My fiance and I are planning a trip for my birthday at the beginning of September. I have heard that this is hurricane season and it is making me a little frightened. How badly does hurricane season effect Disney World?

When my family and I moved from New Jersey to Orlando many years ago, I was worried about hurricane season!  We lived in Orlando for about ten years, and in that time, we were only directly affected by a hurricane twice, and both times, it was mostly just very heavy rain.  Orlando has not always been quite so lucky, but when we lived in South Florida, anytime we were threatened by a hurricane, we would book a night or two at Walt Disney World, because the likelihood of something serious happening was very slim.

You cannot rule out anything, but I wouldn't allow thoughts of hurricanes to put a damper on your vacation plans.  Chances are in your favor that your vacation will not be affected by a hurricane.
