Are there any ferries that can handle an ECV? I am hoping to find details about which ferries (ie from TTC to FW, or from DTD to Port Orleans) can handle ECV's if any. Thanks

    Hi, Dawn!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Using Walt Disney World Water Transportation is a very pleasant way to move conveniently around the property.

The large ferryboats that run between the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and Magic Kingdom Park are fully accessible to Guests using wheelchairs and ECVs. The smaller colorful water launches (also known as water taxis) transport Guests between Magic Kingdom and several resorts, including Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The water launch docks are conveniently located adjacent to the Resort Monorail entrance directly outside the gates of Magic Kingdom Park. There is also water taxi transportation available between the Downtown Disney Area and Disney's Port Orleans Resorts (Riverside and French Quarter).

Many, but not all, boats can accommodate ECVs - you may have to wait a relatively short time for an accessible boat to arrive, depending on several factors such as park crowd levels, location and time of day. (Please note that there is NO watercraft transportation between the TTC and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.)

Generally, most watercraft and their docks are accessible, but it's important for you to know that the boats which are known as "resort launches" (and which have the smallest capacity) are NOT accessible to Guests using wheelchairs or ECVs. These watercraft transport Guests staying at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resorts to Magic Kingdom (and back).

My husband uses a manual wheelchair and we have found that since boat types and routes are subject to change it's always best to confirm water transport accessibility between specific locations by asking a Cast Member.

Wishing you a magical vacation, Dawn!
