Hi fellow Nebraskan! Family of 4 making 1st DW trip, in Jan09.(Children DS(11), DD(6).) Thinking of stay 1/2 wk @ WL and 1/2 wk suite @ ASM. Good or bad idea? Will it be too much of a hassle? Thanks! This panel is great!

How fun to get a question from the heart of the Midwest!!!

Resort hopping is certainly popular and a chance to experience the different theming at WDW.  I LOVE the Wilderness Lodge and miss it dearly since we've outgrown it with 3 children.  While we haven't stayed at the family suites yet, it is on our list to do.  Having a living space, kitchenette, and TWO bathrooms are invaluable.  I think you will enjoy having two different experiences.

Probably the one drawback is that you do have to do some repacking midway through your trip, but WDW is incredibly helpful with transferring luggage.  Disney Mom Kim has a thorough explanation of how they handle resort hopping; just click HERE.

You may also want to plan your days around the two different resorts.  For example, while at the Wilderness Lodge, the Magic Kingdom is close by so you may want to make visiting the Magic Kingdom a priority.   While at the All-Stars, the Animal Kingdom is closer so those are good days to go there with the shorter travel time.  Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios are pretty much mid-way between both resorts.

Have a wonderful first trip to WDW.  I'm already jealous that you'll be escaping the cold winter for a week!
