I feel like I've looked at way too much information on Disney World and am overwhelmed. Pleae help! What do I need to know about disney world with a 3 and 5 year old? Theanks!

    Hi Heidi!

I understand the feeling.  Planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation can be overwhelming.  However, it doesn't have to be.  In fact, if you plan on coming during a relatively quiet time of the year, you can get by with almost no planning!  Seriously!  If you can, I recommend coming to the resort when older children are normally in school.  A particularly nice time is the months of September, October, January, February, and May.

You may be worried about whether your little ones will be able to go on the majority of the rides, and the good news is the answer is "yes".  That may sound weird if you are only used to regional amusement parks, but it is true!  Most of the attractions at Walt Disney World are designed for the entire family.

I highly recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It's a great book for first timers as it has a lot of information, but is not overwhelming like other books.  It's also a beautiful book, full of color photographs.  It will give you a good idea of what there is to do at Walt Disney World and it has a lot of good tips.

Walt Disney World Resort is the crown jewel of the theme park industry.  Sure, planning will allow you to maybe do more, but you can get by with minimal planning and still have a great time, especially if you visit during the slower times of the year.  About the only exception to this statement is character dining.  If you want to dine with the world famous Disney Characters, then I do recommend making a reservation a head of time.  Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance at (407) WDW-DINE or online.
