Hi moms! What's your favorite character meal that appeals to all ages and genders? We have a large group ranging in age from 3 to 87 and an even mix of boys and girls. Thanks for all of your help!

    Phil,

    Thanks for your question!

Character meals are such a great way to get into the fun of character meet-and-greets as a family. It also helps that you can meet several characters all in one sitting. As I am sure you know, there are a lot of choices out there. But I will list a few of my family's favorites based on your family's mix of ages and genders.

At the top of our list is Tusker House Restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I think the food is a notch above, and what I love about it is that they offer both American classics as well as Indian and African-inspired items. It makes it great for a family that has both adventurous diners, as well as picky eaters. The character interaction is great too, as you feel transported to an African safari.

Next would be Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. It can get a bit loud, but it is great for a larger party. The futuristic setting with the Monorail running overhead is fantastic as well. The characters offer great interaction with kids and adults alike, and it makes for easier large group photo opportunities. It is a buffet, so again it offers some culinary flexibility.

In both cases the stars of the show are Mickey and friends, though Tusker House is listed as being hosted by Donald Duck. These characters appeal to the widest of age ranges, and meeting them can be an iconic family memory.

One final idea that falls outside of your parameters, but might be a fun night for a large family is the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue over at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. It is a dinner show, so no actual classic Disney characters to meet, but it is a dinner show with character, to be sure.

Write me back if you need any other suggestions.

Have a Magical (and delicious) Vacation!
