    Chris Asked

Family of 4 with 17 yr son and 13 yr girl. Want dlx resort but need separate beds for son and daughter. Villa or suite seem too pricey for the amount of time we spend in the room. WDW resort std rooms seem somewhat limited for our needs. any suggestions?

Hi, Chris! Thank you for coming back here to the Moms Panel to ask another resort question.

I completely understand your concern about the extra expense of a Deluxe resort suite or villa if your family plans to spend most of your time in the parks and not very much time in your resort room (likely just returning to hit the proverbial hay). My advice for your family would be to reserve a standard room at one of the following Deluxe resorts: Grand Floridian (typical room is 440 SF), Polynesian (415 SF), Contemporary (394 SF), Yacht Club or Beach Club (both 381 SF). These resorts offer larger standard rooms than the other Deluxes. Your room will be furnished with 2 queen beds and a day bed (pull-out sleeper sofa). Parents can share one of the queen beds while the teenagers decide who sleeps in the other queen bed and day bed.

I realize you said that you're looking for a Deluxe resort, but another option you may want to seriously consider is a Family Suite at All-Star Music or Art of Animation. These Value resort suites actually cost less than a standard room at a Deluxe resort and would give your family lots of space, more sleeping options, two full bathrooms and a mini-kitchen with microwave and sink. By comparison with the Deluxe resort standard rooms, the Family Suites at All-Star Music are 520 square feet in size.

I highly recommend the Family Suites at Art of Animation resort because it's a new resort with a great atmosphere, excellent food court and pool complex, and nicely themed suites. Art of Animation also has dedicated bus service which means that it does not share buses with any other resort.

Good luck choosing a resort! Whether you go with a standard room at one of the Deluxe resorts I've suggested above or a Value resort family suite, you really can't go wrong.
    Wishing you a magical vacation!
