My family and I are going to WDW the first week of Dec. Do we need reservations to go to Star Wars land?

Hi, Donna! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I’m so glad you have an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort planned! Early December is a wonderful time to visit, too, because there are so many things to do during the holidays.

At the time of your visit, one of Walt Disney World Resort’s newest destinations will be Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Set to open Aug. 29, this new land is one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most ambitious expansion projects, and I can’t wait to experience it myself!

Although there was a reservation system in place to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in California, there are currently no plans to use a similar system for the Walt Disney World Resort version. You can, however, make advanced reservations for experiences like Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers, Oga’s Cantina and the Droid Depot. When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge initially opens, these experiences and the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction will begin operation at that time. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to open Dec. 5, so that may be available during your early December visit. FastPass+ reservations will not be available for either of these attractions when they open.

Although all Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks are subject to capacity limitations, we really won’t know what to expect until the area opens at the end of the month. I would suggest following the Disney Parks Blog for more information as your vacation date approaches. In the meantime, please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you plan your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

We hope to see you real soon!
